Welcome to Boerne, TX
Boerne (pronounced BUR-nee) was founded in 1852 by German settlers and incorporated in 1909. It was one of the area’s most strategic transportation locations on routes for those traveling into San Antonio or the Texas Hill Country by horse, wagon, train, and motorized vehicle. Boerne is a city in and the county seat of Kendall County, Texas, United States, within the Texas Hill Country. The city’s popularity is based on the establishment of many quaint shops offering antique and eclectic shopping in the historic downtown section. Boerne mixes its historic past and small-town ambiance with modern day conveniences in an area where natural beauty abounds. One of Boerne’s greatest assets is its quality of life and open-space environments including the Hill Country Mile, The Olde #9 Trail, and Cibolo Walking Paths. A visit to the Patrick Heath Public Library will give you the opportunity to see a 1614 Low German Bible on display. Once called the key to the hills, Boerne, Texas is situated on the east side of Interstate 10 about 22 miles northwest of San Antonio.
